Summary

June proved just how fast attackers can outpace patches, with eleven zero-days actively exploited across the month. Cisco disclosed CVE-2026-20245, an unpatched flaw in Catalyst SD-WAN Manager's CLI that lets an authenticated netadmin-level attacker upload a crafted file, trigger command injection, and seize root on the management plane. Check Point wasn't spared either: CVE-2026-50751 let attackers bypass authentication on its Remote Access VPN and Mobile Access products entirely, with at least one intrusion traced back to a Qilin ransomware affiliate. Oracle PeopleSoft users faced their own reckoning as ShinyHunters exploited CVE-2026-35273 before a patch existed, using it to infiltrate networks, harvest data, and move laterally with ease.

Espionage activity kept pace with the exploitation surge. UNC6508, a PRC-nexus actor, compromised externally facing REDCap research servers and deployed custom malware, INFINITERED, purpose-built to harvest legitimate credentials. Social engineering also had a strong month: attackers spread obfuscated VBScript files through compromised WhatsApp accounts disguised as financial documents, while the Edgecution campaign impersonated IT support over Microsoft Teams to lure victims into installing a malicious browser extension backed by a Python-based host.

ClickFix campaigns rounded out the month by tricking users into pasting malicious commands directly into Windows, each variant delivering a different loader. One, Lorem Ipsum Loader, tied to the Rapid Brigantine group, installed a backdoor chain leading through Oyster, Supper, and MeowBackConn before culminating in Rhysida ransomware. Taken together, June is a clear reminder that patching alone isn't enough; layered defenses and faster detection are now table stakes.

Insights

In June 2026, a geopolitical cybersecurity landscape unfolds, revealing the United States, Singapore, Vietnam, Canada, and Brazil as the top-targeted countries.
Highlighted in June 2026 is a cyber battleground encompassing the Financial, Education, Government, Technology, and Healthcare sectors, designating them as the top industries.
No credentials, no problem: CVE-2026-50751 lets attackers walk past Check Point's VPN, and Qilin's already walked in.
ShinyHunters didn't wait for a patch; CVE-2026-35273 gave them unauthenticated, remote control of Oracle PeopleSoft first.
UNC6508 didn't hack REDCap's research — it hacked REDCap's front door, planting INFINITERED to quietly harvest the keys.
Sinobi doesn't knock; it walks in through stolen SonicWall VPN creds, blinds your EDR, and gives you 7 days before your data goes on sale.
One bad memory access, zero days to exploit: Chrome's CVE-2026-11645 is already being weaponized.
233 million records, one sector on the front line: healthcare's brutal year as critical infrastructure's biggest target.
Behind ClickFix's curtain: Potemkin builds the illusion, BabaDeda hides the payload, Lorem Ipsum fills the blanks.
Surfaced in April, run by one name, Prinz Eugen proves ransomware doesn't need a crew — just ROOTBOY and Go code.

Recommendations

01
Prioritize the 29 significant vulnerabilities
Security teams should use this digest to prioritize patching for the 29 significant vulnerabilities and block indicators related to the 10 active threat actors, 38 active malware families, and 237 potential MITRE ATT&CK TTPs identified this month.
02
Run an asset discovery scan
Hive Pro Uni5 customers can run a scan to discover assets impacted by the 29 significant vulnerabilities directly through the Uni5 dashboard.
03
Validate controls with Breach and Attack Simulation
Uni5 customers can test the efficacy of their security controls by simulating the attacks related to active threat actors, active malware, and potential MITRE TTPs using Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS).
