In late 2022, the Meow ransomware variant emerged, originating from the leak of Conti's ransomware strain. Despite a temporary halt following the release of a free decryptor in March 2023, Meow resurfaced in 2024, swiftly claiming new victims. It is suspected that the latest version may now operate primarily as an extortion group.
